Recognized for their support of Carbon County veterans, widows and families, the Carbon County Commissioners have been inducted into The Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor.

Charles J. McHugh Jr., director of the county’s Veterans Affairs, commended the three sitting commissioners, William J. O’Gurek, Charles Getz and Wayne Nothstein, as well as former Commissioner Tom Gerhard, saying the county is known throughout the commonwealth for dedication to its veterans.

McHugh said the honor was bestowed upon the four men at the recommendation of Elmer W. Heffelfinger, 30th District Commander of the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania.
