State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at Frackville reported investigating the following crashes in Schuylkill County:

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 5:15 p.m. on May 11 along Route 895 in East Brunswick Township. Troopers said Richard A. Snyder, 48, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger truck westbound when he swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer that entered in front of him. He lost control of the truck, crossed over the eastbound lane and hit a utility pole. Snyder was not injured but the truck was towed.

He was cited for the crash. Assisting troopers were volunteers from the New Ringgold Fire Company.

• A crash was reported at 5:25 p.m. on May 8 along Route 924 in East Union Township. Joie S. Clews, 21, of Ringtown, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound when she lost control due to driving too fast for conditions. The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a tree.

Clews was not injured and the vehicle had to be towed.

She was cited for the crash.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on May 14 at 6:36 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Foster Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle drifted off the road and hit a milepost marker. He woke up and steered back onto the right shoulder. The teen was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

He was cited for the crash.

• Another crash was reported on Interstate 81 on May 14 at 2:15 p.m. in Mahanoy Township. Joseph D. Fondacaro, 77, of Montgomery, Ohio, was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound and crossing a bridge. While exiting the bridge his vehicle struck a large pothole. The impact ruptured the radiator of the car. He was able to pull to the side. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed.
