FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Awarded bids for road materials to Lehigh Asphalt Paving & Construction in the amount of $230,795.

• Awarded bids for seal coating on various roads within the township to AMS in the amount of $45,994.

• Approved Towamensing Township’s paving project, which includes the paving of a portion of two roads located in Franklin Township (Frankie and Gallaher Drive). The bid was awarded to and will be completed by H&K Group Inc., and agreed to reimburse Towamensing Township $14,564 for the paving on Frankie and Gallaher Drive upon the satisfactory completion of this road project.

• Approved the purchase of a riding mower in the amount of $8,500 to be paid from this year’s general fund budget.

• Granted conditional approval for the Patricia Beltz final lot line adjustment (subdivision) plan pending receipt of the township planning commission’s meeting minutes.

• Approved the request from police Chief Jason Doll for Heart and Lung Benefits, retroactive to the beginning request date of May 12.

• Signed the Cooperation Agreement for Fiscal Year 2020 Community Development Block Grant contract with Carbon County.

• Approved the encroachment permit from Blue Ridge Cable Technologies to bore under TR 538 (Fresh Meadow Drive) to replace the bad television cable.

• Announced that garbage collection pickup for the Memorial Day holiday has been changed from May 31 to June 1.

• Approved the following requests from fire Chief Lynn Diehl to participate in the following parades: Memorial Day Parade in Summit Hill on May 31; Fire Company’s Car Show on June 6; Lehighton Area High School Senior Graduation Parade in Lehighton on June 10; Diamond Fire Company in Walnutport 125th anniversary parade June 12; Six County Fireman’s Parade in White Haven June 26; and Franklin Fire Company Block Party - fireworks July 30-31.
