State Police at Frackville say an 8-year-old boy died in an incident in Delano.

Police said the boy, whom they did not name, was operating an ATV in a private parking lot at 152 Hazel St. when a tractor-trailer was entering and turning behind a garage on the property. The driver did not see the child and hit him with the right rear tires.

The boy died at the scene. Police said the death is accidental.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center received the call at 11:37 a.m. for the incident. Two deputy coroners responded at 11:50 a.m.

State Police at Frackville, Ryan Township Ambulance and Shenandoah paramedics responded to the scene.
