Irene Nonnemacher of Jim Thorpe recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

Born in Hauto on April 30, 1931, she is the youngest of seven children of the late John and Johanna Besek.

She and her late husband Kermit cooperated with God to give the gift of life to seven children: Michael, who passed away in 2017, Lottie, John, Joann, Kathy, Harry and Faith. In addition, she has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Irene enjoys praying, sewing, playing the harmonica, and spending time with her family. When asked for advice on how others can reach a similar milestone in life, she replied “be thankful for what you have and for what you don’t have!”
