A 23-year-old New Jersey man was killed Monday night in East Stroudsburg when he and four other men tried to rob and attack a resident.
State police at Stroudsburg are investigating the incident which occurred at 5:45 p.m. at 909 McKinley Way in
Smithfield Township.
Tyheem Downs, 26, was home and fought his attackers, pulled a gun and fired during the altercation.
One of the assailants was killed, another was seriously injured and three others fled the scene.
Police said Downs was injured during the incident but required no medical treatment.
Police identified one suspect as Unique K. Rainey, 23, of Scranton. Other suspects were not named but identified as a 21-year-old from Scranton; a 19-year-old from East Stroudsburg and another man from Scranton.
Police said it is an isolated incident and the victim was specifically targeted.
There is no threat to the general public.
