State police at Fern Ridge

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following incidents:

• On May 10 at 12:34 p.m. troopers responded to Smith Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, after receiving a complaint of a criminal mischief incident to a vehicle.

The victim, a 39-year-old man from Northampton, showed troopers a 2007 Volkswagen GTI which he said had been parked at that location for a few days and belonged to his girlfriend. He also said someone placed a tire jack under the vehicle and removed a tire. The tire was left on the ground next to the vehicle.

While at the scene the man received a text message from Lawney Strohl, 52, of Weissport, admitting to the criminal mischief act and apologizing for it.

Troopers said a citation was filed against Strohl charging him with criminal mischief.

• On May 11 at 7:30 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2009 Toyota with trailer along Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Allentown, who troopers declined to identify, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI. She was transported to the county DUI center for a blood draw. Charges are pending.

• A traffic stop of a 2004 Buick Rendezvous was made on May 12 at 1:39 p.m. along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. The driver, a 36-year-old man from Muncie, Indiana, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and taken into custody. Charges will be filed.

• On May 13 at 2:38 a.m. a traffic stop of a 2005 Honda Accord was made along I-80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, who troopers declined to identify, was found under the influence of a controlled substance and taken into custody. Charges will be filed.

• On April 26 at 9 p.m. troopers made a traffic stop of a 2006 Kia at Maltese Road and Ridgewood Drive in Chestnuthill Township, for multiple motor vehicle code violations. The driver, Marek Bartosznski, 45, of Effort, was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He was then transported to the county DUI center for a blood draw.

• On April 28 at 1 p.m. troopers were transporting a 24-year-old woman from Hazleton to the Carbon County prison in Nesquehoning on an arrest warrant issued out of that county. During the transport the woman, who troopers declined to identify, was found in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. She was charged with the drug counts, troopers said.
