Pengelly plays in Perfect Game Showcase

Cameron Pengelly, a seventh-grade student who attends the Palmerton Area Junior High School, recently took part in the Perfect Game 13U Mid-Atlantic Showcase.

The 24 kids selected were assigned to either Team Royal or Team Black for the event.

Cameron was named the starting pitcher for Team Royal, and got to pitch three innings where he struck out two batters and allowed one unearned run on three hits with no walks in a 3-1 victory.

At the plate, he went 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored.

During the testing phase, he placed in the top 10 with pitching velocity, and top 10 with infield throwing velocity.

The event, one of 10 across the country, was held May 1-2 in Newark, New Jersey, where Cameron competed against other players from the Mid-Atlantic region to earn a roster spot in the Perfect Game National Showcase Event that will be held July 23-25 in Jupiter, Florida.
