Tamaqua man sentenced to prison on drug charges

A Tamaqua man will spend time in Schuylkill County Prison after he pleaded guilty to selling drugs in the borough in February 2020.

Henry Rodriguez, 31, pleaded guilty to three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility. Schuylkill County Common Pleas Judge Christina Hale sentenced Rodriguez on each case.

In the first one, Hale sentenced him to three to 23 months for the delivery of controlled substance-methamphetamine. Charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility were withdrawn. He receives 32 days credit for time in prison.

In the second case, Hale sentenced Rodriguez to nine to 23 months in prison for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, fentanyl and methamphetamine, and one count of use of a communications facility. Two counts of possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance were withdrawn. Rodriguez receives 160 days credit for time served.

Hale made the sentence effective Monday.

Tamaqua police say Rodriguez sold the drugs Feb. 5 and Feb. 19 for $50. The first time Rodriguez sold two packets of drugs, fentanyl and methamphetamine to a confidential informant. The second time he sold methamphetamine to the informant.
