State police at Fern Ridge report on thefts, traffic stop

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on several incidents:

• A 51-year-old Effort man is the victim of the fraudulent use of his credit card.

Police said the man, who lives along Shenkel Road in Chestnuthill Township, reported to them at 9:47 p.m. April 14 that someone used his credit card information without his consent to make transactions totaling $201.75.

• A criminal/simple trespass incident that happened at 9:17 p.m. May 1 in Penn Forest Township has been reported. A resident of Fawn Road in Jim Thorpe said an unknown white man was seen on the surveillance camera in his backyard.

• Police are investigating the theft of a woman’s purse from inside the ShopRite store at 107 Kinsley Drive, Chestnuthill Township, at 4:34 p.m. April 22.

The woman, a resident of Boca Raton, Florida, said the purse, valued at $50, contained a pocket book, valued at $20, a pink and white iPhone, worth $500, eyeglasses in a Venice case ($25), a vitamin container, about $96 in cash and various credit cards.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 570-646-2271.

• Police charged Julian Gonzalez, 19, of Saylorsburg, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 7:08 p.m. April 26 at the intersection of Lower Mountain Drive and Timberlane Trail in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they stopped a 2016 Ford Mustang he was driving after being alerted to a reckless driver complaint, and the investigation revealed a small amount of marijuana was inside the vehicle. There was also a second occupant in the vehicle.

Police said Gonzalez was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for processing.
