Lehighton area school board concerns

My point of view is to break the monopoly of control. We have increasing taxes, decreasing services for kids, and the auditor general report proves spending is out of control in this district.

How can a district have a full sports program in place and NO transportation services? They have transportation for sports but not for academics. Children are walking to school for the first time since the 1960s. This is one of the reasons we have pulled our kids out of the district and into a charter school for this past school year.

They spent the district into a corner and continue to think it is acceptable to put it on the taxpayers. This MUST change now! The board continues doing what they want even after they are told it is wrong. And the superintendent all but admitted to teaching critical race theory when he said they have diversity classes in place during a recent board meeting.

We will not send our children to any school where they will be taught to hate themselves. And now they just approved a short two-year staff contract and you can bet they will attempt to refinance the debt to fund even more pay raises for staff.

What did the staff give up in all of this pandemic? Special interest groups are tightly connected to certain board members. There needs to be a policy set that states you cannot have any relatives employed by the district if you are going to sit on the school board. This is a massive conflict of interest.

Wally Zlomsowitch, Kerry Sittler, Barbara Bowes and Joy Beers have what it takes to set this district straight moving forward.

Sincerest regards,

Thomas Litchauer Jr.
