Schuylkill driver killed in head-on collision

A Schuylkill County driver was killed in a head-on collision involving a passenger car and truck at 3:09 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Gordon Nagle Trail and SPCA Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the deceased as Bradley Klare, 33, of Pottsville.

According to troopers Klare was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2019 international Harvester truck driven by Lenin Cardenas, 46, of Reading. Klare was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the road in front of his vehicle.

Klare was pronounced dead at the scene by a county deputy coroner.

Klare had a passenger who had to be extricated from the wreckage by rescue personnel. He was taken to a nearby landing site and then transported by medical helicopter to a trauma center. Troopers did not release the name of the passenger. Cardenas was not injured. Both vehicles had heavy damages and were towed.

Troopers said the road was closed for several hours as members of the state police collision analysis reconstruction unit and forensic services unit assisted at the scene.
