Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 9 a.m. is a traditional service and 10:30 a.m. is a contemporary service. This will be the last month with these times of worship. Starting in June will be a new expanded schedule: 8:30 a.m. will be a contemporary service, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, and 11 a.m. a traditional service. They have four options of worship: In the sanctuary, in Leah’s Room (masks required), in the parking lot (FM 104.3), or Faith Alive Facebook Live.

Upcoming events are: May 10 at 7 p.m. is a church council meeting

May 13 and 27 at 2 p.m. is Adult Bible study. All are welcome to join the group.

May 14 at 7 p.m. is a Hospitality Committee meeting.

May 16 at 6 p.m. is a Youth Group meeting. All youth 12 years to 12th grade are welcome to attend.

May 23 is Pentecost Sunday

The May Mission of the Month is Bowman Park Camp. “A Small Camp With a Big God.” It is a nondenominational Christian camp located in Bowmanstown. They have served the community since 1891 and have historical connections to the United Methodist Church. Look on their website www.bowmanparkcamp.com for updates and camp schedules.

Collect cans

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road, has a trailer at the company grounds to collect aluminum cans and crushed cans. All support is appreciated.

Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Trachsville is also collecting cans. They have a shed in their church grove. There are two deposit slots: one for crushed cans and one for uncrushed. Donations are appreciated.

Palmerton council

A regular meeting of the Palmerton Borough Council will be held May 13 at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave.

Persian donut sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) is having a Persian donut sale. To order, call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403. All orders are due by May 9. Pick up donuts at the church May 20 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Prom in the Park

Prom in the Borough Park will be held May 7. Parents and friends of Palmerton prom participants are invited to see this annual photo event and take photos of your own.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. A congregational meeting will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the worship service. The meeting concerns the building addition project. Please plan to attend this special meeting to give your opinion and vote.

Weather permitting, Sunday services will be held in the church grove and will continue that way until further notice. Bring your lawn chairs, dress comfortably, and sit in family units while remaining socially distant. You can also remain in your vehicle and park in the grove so you can see the bandstand and listen on 95.5 FM. Services can also be seen on Facebook Live and the church website.

Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship.

Looking ahead there will be a two-day Flea Market June 11 and 12. The annual picnic will be Aug. 14. If you are able to donate toward the picnic raffle please see Wendy Hoppel. She would like to have the list of donations by June 9.

Bag sale

The Palmerton Area Library, Delaware Avenue, is having a bag sale for the month of May. Masks are required and please call ahead to go to the sale. Call 610-826-3424. You may fill a plastic bag with books, puzzles and DVDs for $2 and fill a bag with VHS tapes for $1.

Basket social

The fundraising committee of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, is hosting a basket social Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the social hall of the church. They have more than 100 baskets for all ages. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. The will have a bake sale as will as delicious homemade food for sale. The menu includes a Happy Bowl, hamburger and chicken barbecue, filling and gravy, pierogies and pickled cabbage, halushki and mac & cheese.

Zinc City

Zinc City Motorcycle Club, Interchange Road, Kresgeville will hold a Poker Run May 15. Sign in between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Raising the House 5K

Raising the House’s eighth annual 5K run/walk will be held in the Palmerton Park June 5. The race will begin at 9 a.m., with race packet pickup beginning at 7:45 a.m. In order to comply with Pennsylvania safety standards, they are allowing a limited number of participants, so register before the spots are filled. Blood drive

The Palmerton Area Community will be hosting a blood drive on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. Donors must be 16 years of age or older. Must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, feel healthy on the day of donation, and provide valid identification. Consent of parent/guardian is required for 16-year-old donors.
