Man killed in Schuylkill crash

The Schuylkill County Coroner’s office has been called to the scene of a fatal crash at SPCA Road and the Gordon Nagle Trail, North Manheim Township.

A supervisor with the Schuylkill County Communications Center said the call came in at 3:07 p.m. involving a car and a tractor-trailer. The coroner’s office was dispatched at 3:43 p.m., he said.

“The road is going to be closed for several hours,” the supervisor said.

The Pottsville Fire Department, Schuylkill EMS, Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency, Med Evac 7, fire police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Pottsville Fire Chief James Misstishin Sr. said a man in the car was ejected and is deceased. He did not know if the man was the driver of the vehicle. A passenger was flown to a hospital, he said.

“There is quite a traffic mess going on right now,” John Matz, Schuylkill County Emergency Management Coordinator, about the traffic in Pottsville.

Pennsylvania State Police are on scene, he said.'=
