May 5, 1990 - The Panther Valley girls race to first-place finishes in both the 400 and 800 relays at the annual Schuylkill County Relays in Pottsville. The foursome of Sherry Colon, Pam Machalik, Kim Williams and Lisa Kravelk register a time of 53.0 to take the 4x100. The same four runners team up to post a time of 1:54.8 in the 4x200 to claim the gold in that event. The PV boys receive a runner-up finish from the team of Joe Perilli and Matt Toniatti in the shot put, with Perilli’s 47-10 3/4 topping all performers. The Marian girls also receive second-place finishes from its 400, 3200 and medlay relay squads, while Tamaqua earns second in the 1600 relay and the shot put.
