Elsie Beckett is celebrating her 90th birthday today.

She worked at Gnaden Huetten Hospital for 25 years, when it first opened, as an LPN. She left due to a cancer diagnosis. After that, she helped people in their homes.

She was president of Lehighton Seniors for five years and loved spending time with the women. Due to a car accident, she could no longer attend the meetings, but continued to enjoy and love life.

Elsie has four children, Rosemarie DeHaven, Dr. Edward Beckett, Georgette, all of Lehighton, and Steffany Quilo, Salisbury, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She enjoys playing bingo and going to the casino and spending time with her family.

A party is being held at the Lehighton Legion.
