Weissport Borough Council voted to withhold payment to PPL until they honor their agreement to fix two lights on the Weissport Bridge that have been out of order for many months.
“We need to get this resolved,” Borough Councilman Tom Ketchledge said.
Weissport Borough pays PPL just over $600 per month for the lights on the bridge. The agreement is that PPL is responsible for maintaining the lighting fixtures.
Numerous calls have been made by council President Arland Moyer and borough Secretary Jennifer Ketchledge to PPL, but PPL has so far refused to fix the lights or even return phone calls.
“We’ve attempted to contact them; we received no response,” borough solicitor Gregory Mousseau said.
“We need to negotiate; we need to talk to somebody. We don’t know how else to do this. So council has agreed not to pay the bill.”
