It was a dual celebration as Ajax, the new canine officer for Lansford Borough’s police force, was introduced, and Lansford presented Daniel and Ralph Cipko a plaque for their generosity in purchasing the drug and patrol dog for the borough and for their pledge to maintain the dog during its active career in the borough.

The plaque was headed “Award of Appreciation” and read, “For your generous funding of our patrol and narcotics dog Ajax. Our community is grateful to improve its safety and quality of life.”

In accepting the award, Daniel Cipko promised Ajax would have the best food and best veterinary care for his life. The dog was brought here from Czechoslovakia.
