May 1, 1956 - Joe Ozefovich wins two events to help Coaldale roll to a 74-35 track victory over Nesquehoning. Ozefovich breaks the tape in the 100 in a time of 11.0 and captures the 220 in 25 seconds. The Tigers’ Joe Dematto, Bob Scutta and Lou Gregus all win one event and tie for first in another. Dematto claims the javelin (151-8) and ties Scutta and Bob Parfitt for first in the pole vault (8-0). Scutta also wins the 440 in 57.6 seconds. Gregus takes the mile in 5:03 and equals Fred West’s 5-4 in the high jump to share top honors in that event. Coaldale’s other winner is Tommy Boyle, who claims the 880 in 2:24.
