Carbon County court

Two Carbon County men admitted to two driving under the influence counts recently in the county court.

The two were among nine defendants in pending DUI cases to enter a guilty plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Two counts

Brad R. Bowman, 40, of Bowmanstown, was arrested on the first DUI of a controlled substance on Jan. 8, 2018, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. The second arrest occurred on Sept. 6, 2020, by state police at Lehighton along Bank Street in Bowmanstown.

He also pleaded to one count of possession, sale, use or display of documents, a misdemeanor 1, after a vehicle stop on Jan. 25, 2019 by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. In that case charges of DUI (two counts), firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia were dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.

Nanovic deferred sentencing so Bowman could apply for placement in the house arrest program.

Austin Scott Hinkle, 19, of Summit Hill, pleaded to two counts of DUI and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on the first count on Nov. 5, 2019, along Mahoning Street by Lehighton police for DUI of a controlled substance; with drug paraphernalia found. The second arrest occurred on Nov. 24, 2019, along Mahoning Mountain Road in Mahoning Township by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Hinkle can get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Other pleas

Beth A. Hosier, 36, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 17, 2017, by Lehighton police along Route 443 for DUI of a controlled substance. She also entered a plea to possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on Sept. 21, 2018, by Lehighton police along Route 443, she was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police. She pleaded to two more counts of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on Feb. 26, 2019, also filed by Lehighton police following a stop in the 400 block of North Third Street. She was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped.

Sentencing was deferred so she can apply for placement in the house arrest program.

William Paul Kintz, 61, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 19, 2020, by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 at Bowmanstown. A test showed 0.14 BAC.

A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and fined $300.

Joshua Eichler, 45, of Lehighton, was arrested on Nov. 26, 2016, by state police at Lehighton along East Alley in Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.

Jose L. Morales Jr., 45, of Summit Hill, was arrested on Feb. 17, by Lehighton police at Route 443 and Ninth Street. He refused a test.

Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for the house arrest program.

Annette Bowen, 56, of Lansford, was arrested on Feb. 3, 2020, along Route 209 by Nesquehoning police.

She entered her plea via video from the Montgomery County prison.

Sentencing was deferred and the adult probation office was ordered to prepare a presentence investigation report.

Chad Deutsch, 45, of Lehighton, was arrested on Oct. 10, 2020, by Palmerton police along Route 248 for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.

Geoffery Allen Painter, 39, of Bethlehem, was arrested on May 27, 2017, by state police at Lehighton along Bridge Street in Weissport. He also pleaded to driving under suspension.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
