Carbon man pleads guilty in five pending cases

A Carbon County man, who also listed a residence in Lehigh County, entered guilty pleas on Thursday in the county court in five pending criminal cases.

Scott Michael Albert, 26, of Lehighton, who listed a Catasauqua address at one time, pleaded guilty to four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of theft by receiving stolen property.

The drug arrests occurred on March 30, 2019, filed by state police at Lehighton, following a traffic stop along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton; June 24, 2019, state police traffic stop along Route 248 in Bowmanstown; Nov. 23, 2018, by state police traffic stop along Bank Street in Bowmanstown; and June 26, 2020, state police for incident along East Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township. The theft count stems from a Dec. 28, 2019, incident in East Penn Township in which a Honda Grizzly 4-wheeler was stolen.

Albert’s plea was made via video from the Lehigh County prison, where he is being held.

Matika placed him on probation for a year on each drug count with the terms running concurrently. On the theft count he was placed on probation for a year running consecutive to the drug counts.

He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render a total of 100 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
