Carbon County’s D&L Trail connector project is continuing throughout the county parking lot in Jim Thorpe. Construction crews are currently working to install guide rails, which will separate the parking lot from the trail that hikers and bikers will use. J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen was awarded the contract at a cost of $321,718.50, which will be covered under the Transportation Set Aside Grant. Work began April 5 and is expected to take until around May 14. The trail enhancement project aims to take hikers and bikers out of the county parking lot and onto a safer and better constructed portion of the D&L Trail in that section in Jim Thorpe.
