State police at Frackville are investigating a theft in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said at 9 a.m. April 10 they responded to Grier Avenue in Rush Township for a 67-year-old woman from Barnesville. She reported a unknown man stole a wallet from her purse while she was shopping at the Walmart store in the township. The man attempted to make purchases of Visa gift cards worth about $1,600, $1,000 and $820. The first two attempts were blocked via a bank fraud protection but the third was completed.

The suspect is described at a black man, with an athletic build, wearing all black clothing with a black and white baseball cap. He fled the scene on Route 309 northbound in a white/silver new style SUV.
