Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes:

• Troopers investigated a crash on April 4 at 9:13 p.m. along East Main Street in Girardville, in which the driver is facing a driving under the influence charge. Troopers said Amber L. McCleary, 44, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2008 Mazda 3 eastbound when her vehicle struck a parked 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck, then made contact with a parked 2002 Ford Explorer.

McCleary, who was not injured, was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, troopers said. Her vehicle was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:15 a.m. on April 2 along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said Stephen Orsulak, 52, of Barnesville, was driving a 2009 International Harvester truck southbound when his vehicle traveled over ice on a bridge, causing him to lose control. The vehicle rotated about 180 degrees and struck the guide rail along the left side of the road. Troopers said weather conditions were the prime cause of the crash.

Orsulak suffered a suspected minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. The truck had to be towed.

• Troopers investigated another crash on I-81 in Ryan Township on April 17 at 9 p.m. Troopers said Miles Nolen, 57, of Wilkes-Barre, was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester northbound when he said he attempted to pass another vehicle. Nolen said the other vehicle started drifting into his lane and he swerved to avoid a collision. His lost control of his vehicle which left the road, traveled up an embankment and hit a patch of trees located within the median.

Nolen was injured but refused medical treatment, troopers said. His vehicle had to be towed.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on April 2 at 9:51 p.m. along Reynolds Road in Walker Township. Troopers said Charles W. Helms, 52, of Minersville, was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 southbound and negotiating a slight right curve when his vehicle struck a mailbox along the berm. The vehicle continued on and struck an embankment and then a PPL utility pole.

Helms sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg, by New Ringgold ambulance. The vehicle had to be towed.

He was cited for the crash.
