Unclaimed dresses

Editor:

This is a great time of year! The sun is warming, flowers blooming and thoughts of spring are in the air! Thoughts are also turning to “prom night” with beautiful gowns, tuxes and giddy smiles everywhere.

Everywhere except at a seamstress’s business near Bowmanstown. Yes, it is hard to believe, but she has five gowns all ready to go on a rack for over a year. Somewhere there was a girl who didn’t work out the details, or a mother who let her down or any number of other reasons why the gowns were left on the rack, unpaid!

You may say, “Oh, she can sell them to someone else!” Sure, someone the exact size who prefers the same style, color and trim! Get real! (As a teenager may say!) Or, “Me, wear a hand-me-down, no way!” This all sounds silly, but what’s a seamstress to do with five finished products, all looking beautiful on a rack for over a year! Come on America! Is this what proms are for?
