Carbon man pleads to indecent assault

A Carbon County man entered a guilty plea on Tuesday in the county court to a charge of indecent assault.

Michael Petock IV, 27, of Jim Thorpe, entered his plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass to the misdemeanor 2 count.

In exchange for the plea, a felony 2 charge of aggravated assault without consent was dropped.

Petock was arrested by Jim Thorpe police following an incident on March 22, 2018. Petock, according to police, met a female on a dating app and arranged to meet her in the borough.

The female reported that Petock touched her inappropriately at the meeting and she reported the incident to police.

Serfass deferred sentencing so Petock could be evaluated by the state sexual assault assessment board to determine if he is a violent sexual predator.
