On this date: April 22, 1976

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nesquehoning, hosted last evening’s 19th annual Panther Valley Daughters of Mary Mass and banquet.

The Rev. Paul Welkie, pastor, was the main celebrant of the Mass and toastmaster during the banquet. The main speaker was Monsignor John McDonough, head of the Catholic Social Services in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Mrs. Carrie McCullion, president of the Daughters, welcomed the women. Entertainment was provided by Joan Suzadail and Stephen Shigo.

The chapter, founded in 1957 by the late Lorraine Ruzicka of Lansford, consists of 600 women in the Panther Valley area.
