Would-be burglar unsuccessful in Monroe

A would-be burglar in Chestnuthill Township was unable to gain entry to a home but damaged the door.

State police at Fern Ridge barracks said the incident happened at 2:30 p.m. April 16 on the 2300 block of Hill Road in the township.

Police said a man arrived at the scene from the wooded side of the property and removed the surveillance camera at the residence before trying to gain entry to it by kicking in the rear glass door.

The suspect is described as a while man, about 20-30 years of age, wearing a black and gray hat with ear flaps, a black mask, gray gloves, bluejeans and gray shoes. He was also seen carrying a flashlight and a black and navy blue bag over his shoulder.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on the incident or burglar to contact the barracks.
