Robert Zellner is seeking a seat on the Lehighton Area School District school board, running on the Republican ticket. He was born and raised in Lehighton and graduated from Lehighton Area High School, Lehigh Carbon Community College, and Penn State Harrisburg, studying electronics technology and electrical engineering.
His interests and hobbies include being a founding member of the Zion Opera Workshop in Lehighton and performing in various theatrical, singing and dancing groups.
While in high school, he packed grocery bags and stocked shelves at Genetti’s Grocery Store (today, Mallards on Second Street) and at Heiser’s Corner Store (formerly at Second and Bridge streets).
Following college, he worked in the Quality and Reliability Assurance fields for several major science and technology companies, including Honeywell, L3 Communications (today, L3Harris Technologies) and Lockheed Martin. While there, he contributed to the reliability analysis for the Global Positioning System (GPS III) satellite which had four successful launches in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and now provide timing signals used by GPS devices people use every day. Zellner retired in 2019.
If elected to the Lehighton school board, Zellner will utilize his engineering background with attention to detail in making collaborative, thoughtful and informed decisions. He would appreciate your vote on May 18.
