Schuylkill County crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• Sarah A. Bensinger, 29, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2002 Dodge Intrepid northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole at 10:17 a.m. March 29. Bensinger was not injured but the vehicle was towed. She was cited for the crash.

• On April 11 at 5:26 a.m. a crash occurred along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Connor D. Resto, 23, of Lansford, was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber southbound when he lost control on the wet roadway. The vehicle went onto the east berm and struck a guide rail.

Resto was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. He was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:35 a.m. on April 10 along Route 443 in East Brunswick Township. Troopers said Joseph A. Woytko, 56, of Reading, was westbound, driving a 2017 GMC Acadia, just west of New Ringgold, with Jose M. Garcia Gonzalez, 24, of Harleigh, Luzerne County, driving a 2006 BMW 325 a distance behind him. Woytko slowed down to make a left turn and his vehicle was struck in the rear by Gonzalez’s vehicle.

No one was injured. Gonzalez was cited for careless driving.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:02 a.m. on April 10 along Route 924, in Shenandoah. Troopers said Heidy S. Mora, 26, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Trax northbound when she saw a deer on the road in front of her. She veered her vehicle to the right with the Trax going off the road and striking guide rail, then rolling over into a wooded area.

Mora was not injured. The vehicle was towed. She was cited for the crash.

• A crash occurred at 4:25 p.m. on April 13 along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township. Eugene T. Sams, 73, of Waynesburg, Ohio, was driving a 1995 Peterbilt truck northbound when the vehicle experienced mechanical issues and traveled off the road and struck a guide rail. It continued along the guide rail into an embankment where it struck a large tree.

Sams was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley East Hospital in Pottsville. The truck was towed.
