Computer classes

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer a wide variety of noncredit computer courses this semester that provide instruction in personal computing and specialized software packages.

All classes have a ratio of one person per computer to provide hands-on experience.

Classes in computer basics, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word will be held this spring. Dates, times, locations and prices vary.

First Aid training

LCCC will offer a variety of first aid classes at the main campus in Schnecksville.

• AHSI Pediatric First Aid is ideal for day care providers, school staff, scout leaders, coaches or others who work with youth. It includes CPR, AED and First Aid specifically for children. Class will be held May 11 and 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $136.

• Babysitters wanting to know more about what to do if something happens to a child they are caring for will learn babysitting as a business, safety/injury prevention, leadership, play time, basic caregiving skills and basic first aid. The Babysitting First Aid class is held on May 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee is $136.

• Wilderness First Aid offers training in patient assessment, tissue injuries, splinting and other topics used to save lives and limbs in remote, possibly life-threatening situations. Classes will be set up upon request by emailing pdonohue@lccc.edu. Class fee is $325.

Language courses

LCCC is offering a wide variety of language classes this spring through its noncredit division. Classes are held at the main campus in Schnecksville unless noted otherwise.

• The EZ Deitsch I Language course will be held April 29 through June 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays. In this course, students will be introduced to Pennsylvania Dutch, including both language and culture. Cost is $151.

• Spanish for Health Care Professionals will be held May 12 through June 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays at LCCC Allentown. This course will help students decrease language barriers using basic grammar and pronunciation. Students will learn everyday words and phrases, medical terminology and common phrases used during health exams. Cost is $185. Text is included.

Dance classes

Lehigh Carbon Community College) will hold a variety of noncredit dance classes this semester. Due to COVID-19 restrictions all classes will be held at the Schnecksville campus.

Dance classes will be offered for couples only, for a fee of $83 per person. They recommend a flat shoe or one with low, wide heels.

• Learn the East and West Coast Swing, Hustle and Country Two-Step in the Social Dance Sampler class, which emphasizes the lead-follow technique. Class runs Tuesdays, May 18 through June 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

• Learn the fundamentals in a Dance at Your Wedding class. Couples will find it easy to dance while identifying different rhythms in music, a critical aspect of partner dancing. Bring a snack and water bottle. Also, wear shoes with slick soles - no sneakers. Class is held April 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a fee of $68 per person.

Fitness classes

LCCC will hold a variety of noncredit exercise classes for fitness and recreation this semester. The following classes will be held at main campus in Schnecksville.

• State-of-the-art exercise class, Barre One, which combines Pilates, dance and yoga, helps individuals acquire lean muscles and a strong core. Participants should wear yoga-type clothes and bring a water bottle to class. Class is offered April 19 through May 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. for a fee of $78.

• CBD 101 explores the history and health benefits of CBD, which stands for cannabidiol and is naturally found in hemp plants. Learn the basics on label reading, safety, potency, side effect and legalities. Class meets Thursday, May 2-16, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $45.

• Step up your aerobics routine while going back to some good old moves with Retro Cardio. Class will be offered on Wednesday, May 19 through June 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost is $78.
