Lehighton Borough Council took the following action last week:

• Purchase a salt spreader in the amount of $11,000, for the Public Works Department, to come from the borough’s liquid fuels minor equipment fund.
• Denied a request from St. Luke’s Lehighton Campus to install pole banners around the hospital because the light poles are already filled with Lehighton United Veterans Organization Hometown Heroes banners.
• Will send letters in support of St. Luke’s Lehighton Campus, to serve as a COVID-19 vaccination center.
• Accepted the resignation of full-time patrol officer Keifer Bathgate due to personal reasons.
• Accepted the resignation of Richard Barclay from the Lehighton Water Authority Board.
• Will accept letters of interest to fill the vacancy on the Lehighton Water Authority Board.

• Approved the Lehighton Fire Department’s request to hold two boot drives; one on Labor Day weekend, and the other during Fall Foliage.
• Approved a request from Tim Snyder, owner of TNT Auto Repairs LLC, for street closings so he can hold a one-year anniversary car show on June 12.
