BOWMANSTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL

Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action last week:

• Ratified a resolution adopted March 12 authorizing submittal of a redevelopment assistance capital budget program grant for the fire company. The grant the fire company applied for had a deadline of March 31, so council adopted the resolution to accompany the grant application.

• Approved payment No. 6 in the amount of $64,686 for reed beds for the sewer plant.

• Announced that the Lions Club received a $4,500 grant to be used on the monument, which is in need of restoration work.

• Agreed to spend up to $1,000 for tunnel lighting to replace the old lights and fixtures with LED lights.

• Announced that a draft construction and E&S plans have been developed for the Craig Street project, along with traffic control detour route and special provision. In addition, a highway plan submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is required due to Craig Street access adjoining Fireline Road.

• Announced the Highway Occupancy Plan permit for drainage inlet replacements on White Street near 630 White St. has been approved by PennDOT. The permit is valid until March 26.

• The borough engineer will apply for 2021 Community Development Block Grant funds to rebuild half of Lincoln Avenue.

• Agreed to purchase two monitors to make the office computer dual monitor systems.

• Announced that the Spring Farm Fest will be held from noon to 5 p.m. May 5.

• Announced that an electronics recycling event will be held from 3-6 p.m. May 5 at the borough garage.

• Agreed to allow a takeout dinner for the Lions Club at the Oliver Solt Pavilion on June 5.
