2021 primary election: Zelienka is running for county treasurer

Kevin Zelienka of Palmerton has announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for Carbon County treasurer.

Zelienka was born and raised in Carbon County. He graduated from Palmerton Area High School, earned an associate degree from Keystone College and a BFA degree from University of the Arts. Kevin and Paula, both natives of Palmerton, have been married for 26 years and have three daughters and one grandson.

Zelienka desires to use his managerial and financial background along with his education to start on day one to make a smooth transition as the new treasurer for Carbon County. Kevin has over 35 years’ experience running his own small business as well as 25 years of management, financial management and supervisor experience. Kevin understands the responsibility of the treasurer is processing all taxes and other monies due to the county. Additional duties include custody, disbursement and maintaining all records of financial transactions.

The office also is an agent for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania for issuing of various licenses. These licenses include fishing, dog, hunting, bingo, small game of chance and sportsman firearm permits.

Zelienka said he is looking forward to serving our wonderful community and will be a good custodian of the taxpayers’ money.
