Fund started for Schuylkill road rage victim

A Berks County woman has organized a GoFundMe for the homicide victim in Monday’s Route 61 road rage incident in Schuylkill County.

Lori Sweigart of Leesport, started the effort for George Marcincin who was stabbed on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

The suspected assailant is in Schuylkill County Prison and charged with first and third degree murder, among other charges.

In part, the post to help his wife Shelia with funeral expenses, Sweigart said, “This was such a shock to us all.”

She said George was “an awesome guy and amazing father to a daughter and (three) sons. He was a military Vet who served in Iraq. He didn’t deserve to leave his family this way! His wife, children, parents and family and friends are all devastated! If you can help his family with funeral expenses or whatever they are going to need by donating any amount would be greatly appreciated by so many of us.

Sweigert says any amount would help at this time. “And if you can’t donate, please pray for our family to get through this hard and unbelievable time of sorrow! Thank you all in advance!”

As of 6 p.m., 12 people have donated $815 toward the $5,000 goal. The post was shared 66 times.
