The Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill has several programs coming up throughout the month of March.

Programs are offered virtually, via Zoom and select programs will also be broadcast on Facebook Live on the center’s Facebook page.

Upcoming events include:

• Wonderful Watersheds: 11 a.m. April 17. Join CCEEC naturalist Jeannie Carl for a fun look at how watersheds work and learn what you can do to help protect the one you live in.

• Creepy Crawlers: 10 a.m. April 19. Children ages 2-4 enjoy age-appropriate stories, games and crafts. This month’s topic is “April Showers.”

• Pennsylvania Fishers: 6 p.m. on April 21. Pennsylvania Game Commission Information and Education Supervisor William Williams describes the recovery of fisher populations in Pennsylvania and explains the ecology, behavior and management of this secretive predator.

• Plant Swap: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24. CCEEC’s first springtime in-person program, held outdoors at the center’s pavilion. Participants will be asked to follow current CDC COVID-19 prevention guidelines. There is no need to register. Simply stop in with any extra garden plants you can share, or visit to see what others have to offer. No invasive species, please.

The environmental education center is now open to the public weekdays, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Donations are greatly appreciated due to lost revenue because of the pandemic.
