Carbon county crashes

State police at Hazleton reported investigating two crashes in Carbon County.

• A Carbon County driver was injured in a crash at 1:39 a.m. on March 31 along Spring Mountain Road in Weatherly.

State police at Hazleton said Georgette A. Spence, 39, of Weatherly, was driving a 2010 Cadillac CTS eastbound when she lost control. The vehicle left the road and struck guide rail on the left side. Spence was taken by Mahoning Valley ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus, for treatment of injuries. The vehicle sustained severe damages and was towed.

Volunteers from the Citizens Fire Company of Weatherly and Weatherly police assisted at the scene.

• Troopers also reported investigating a three-vehicle crash on April 6 at 10:14 a.m. along Route 93 in Banks Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Jasmine R. Askew, 29, of West Hazleton, and Leeann Kiddish, 49, of Weatherly, were both southbound while Joseph M. Fay, 64, of Hazleton, was northbound. As Kiddish stopped at the intersection with Spring Mountain Road to make a left turn, Askew’s 2008 Honda Accord rear-ended her 2007 Honda Civic. The impact caused the Civic to spin in a counterclockwise direction onto the right shoulder.

Askew’s vehicle then crossed into the northbound lane and collided into Fay’s 2017 Chevrolet Traverse causing it to spin counterclockwise and come to rest facing east. Askew’s vehicle then spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing south.

Askew suffered a minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus. No one else was injured.

Troopers cited Askew for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Beaver Meadows and Weatherly fire companies.
