The Schuylkill County Prison is undergoing some work.

Commissioners approved duct cleaning and balancing, circuit setters to heating duct coils for system balancing at Wednesday’s meeting. Completion is scheduled for Dec. 30.

County Administrator Gary Bender said the work is preventive maintenance. Cost for duct cleaning and balancing is $45,764. Cost for the other work is $36,671.

The costs were not budgeted for, but there is money for it, Bender said.

The structure was built in 1851.
