Palmerton news for April 8, 2021

Palmerton library

The theme for National Library Week (April 4-10) “Welcome to Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building, and that everyone is welcome to use library services. During the pandemic they have adapted to the changing world by expanding resources and continuing to meet the needs of patrons.

Whether people visit in person or virtually, libraries offer opportunities for everyone to explore new worlds and become their best selves through access to technology, multimedia content and educational programs. Please follow the library on social media. You can also make an appointment to come into the library by calling 610-826-3424.

April activities include a “Library Bookmark Contest” for preschool through sixth grade. Winning designs in each age group will be printed as bookmarks and distributed by the library. Entry forms are due by April 21. Winners will be announced April 23. One entry per child.

“Food For Fines”: For the month of April the library is accepting donations of nonperishable food items to benefit CACPAC. Since the library is not currently charging fines, the library will use a pay it forward system and apply the donation value to accounts with old, outstanding fines.

National Poetry Month “Black out” Poetry take and make kits for tweens and teens will be available for pickup the week of April 12.

“Zoom Poetry Reading” for teens and adults will be April 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Check the library Facebook page for upcoming information and sign up.
