A New Hampshire native has been hired as Tamaqua’s new borough manager, borough solicitor Sparks Reese announced at a press conference this morning at the Tamaqua Municipal Building.

The new manager, Gardner R. Benson, who will leave a position as town manager of Gottstown, New Hampshire, will succeed Marvin Milam, and will start his new duties on April 21.

Benson made his second trip to Tamaqua to be present for a meeting of the Tamaqua Borough Council last night when his selection to the post at a salary of $11,000 a year was made final.

Milam left Tamaqua early in March to become manager in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
