Vehicle stop leads to drug arrests

A vehicle stop in Carbon County has led to the arrest of the driver and passenger on drug charges.

State police at Lehighton said troopers stopped a 2004 Audi A4 at 3:15 a.m. on Monday along Mill Road at Mahoning Drive West, in Mahoning Township.

Troopers said the driver and passenger attempted to switch positions in the vehicle. As a result of the stop a 35-year-old man from Summit Hill, who troopers declined to identify, is facing a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He refused all test requests.

The driver and his 23-year-old male passenger, also from Summit Hill, who troopers declined to identify, are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges will be filed.
