A Schuylkill County driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:44 p.m. on April 1 along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township.

State police at Frackville said Nick M. Panko, 67, of Saint Clair, was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra southbound when his vehicle traveled into the center median. It then crossed the median and onto the northbound lanes and then to the east berm. It then traveled into a wooded area and struck several small trees. The vehicle came to rest against the trees.

Panko was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, where he died of his injuries, troopers said.
