Sacred Heart news

Sacred Heart Parish, Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, celebrates the greatest feast of the church year this weekend, Easter. On this weekend, we offer joyful praise to the Father who raised his Son, Jesus, from the dead. The blessing of the congregation with holy water and renewing our baptismal promises is to remind us of our commitment to live in Christ.

At our Easter Vigil, Saturday at 8 p.m., we solemnly celebrate the beginning of the Easter season which lasts for 50 days - ending on Pentecost Sunday. We also will happily welcome Gail Connell into the church as a fully initiated member of our parish family.

Sunday, Easter Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Father Bill will bless children’s Easter baskets at that Mass and have a small treat for those who bring their baskets.

All worshippers are asked to call the rectory office at 610-826-2335 to reserve your seat. Seating capacity continues to be limited to 160 worshippers at each Mass. Wearing a facial mask and safe distancing is required. Both Masses for Easter will be livestreamed on Facebook for all who are unable to join us in person.

The Sacrament of Confession continues to be offered by appointment only. Please call the rectory office to schedule. All other parish and diocesan news can be found at www.shcpalmerton.org.

The rectory office will be closed Easter Monday and reopen on Easter Tuesday for regular office hours of 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be no parish Mass Easter Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Mass will be at noon on Thursday and Friday. The church will be open Tuesday and Wednesday for private prayer from noon to 3 p.m., and on Thursday and Friday after Mass until 3 p.m.

Our Parish May Sweepstake drawing has kicked off. Please call the rectory office for tickets. Returns are due back to the rectory by April 19.

Father Bill continues to ask for prayers, through the intercession of Father Walter Ciszek whose cause for canonization to Sainthood is under study, that God will bless us with a cure for COVID-19 and restore the physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health to our global family.
