Hicks performs virtual theater

Ebony Hicks of Albrightsville took part in a virtual production of “The Importance of Being Earnest,” at Albright College, this March. Hicks played “Merriman” for “Ernest.” A graduate of Pocono Mountain West High School, Hicks is majoring in theater at Albright.

The Oscar Wilde play, directed by Albright College Senior Artist in Residence and alumnus, Jeffrey Lentz ’85, features photography from Albright Professor of History, John Pankratz, Ph.D., and videography by artist Cocol Bernal. A comedy of manners and morals, “The Importance of Being Earnest” satirically grates against the idea of a common Victorian play.

Working separately with nine different Albright actors, including Hicks, and multiple digital arts technology platforms, Lentz married a body of animated visuals and audio to create a captivating virtual theater world.
