State police report on crashes involving Carbon drivers

State police at Hazleton reported the following crashes:

• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. on March 18 along Grist Mill Drive in Packer Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Walter Cruz, 52, of Freeland, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Express northbound when he overcompensated a curve and struck a 2000 Toyota Camry driven by John J. Masyado, 83, of Weatherly. Masyado suffered a possible injury but refused medical treatment, troopers said. Both vehicles were towed.

• A crash occurred at 5:36 p.m. on March 21 along Berwick Street (Route 93), in Banks Township.

Troopers said Michael F. Card, 56, of Beaver Meadows, was driving a 2012 Jeep Patriot when he was making a U-turn. As he made the truck his vehicle struck a parked 2009 Acura TL causing minor damage. Information was later obtained that Card resided on Berwick Street. He was cited for limitations on turning around.

• A Schuylkill County driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Luzerne County. State police at Hazleton said the crash occurred on March 15 at 10:23 a.m. along Route 309 in Hazle Township, at an entrance to the Church Hill Mall.

Troopers said Kristi L. Stewart, 31, of Hazleton, was northbound driving a 2005 Ford Escape while Yosmeri B. Miguel Guzman, 41, of McAdoo, was leaving the mall, driving a 2009 Acura MDX. Guzman merged into the northbound lane directly into the path of Stewart and a collision occurred. Guzman suffered a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus. Stewart was not injured. Both vehicles were towed.

Guzman was cited for traffic offenses while Stewart was cited for not being properly licensed.
