Schuylkill historical society events planned

Schuylkill County native James Wosochlo Jr., author of a book based on the true story of a local tavern owner believed to be the unofficial first American serial killer, will be at the Schuylkill County Historical Society at 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 7.

He will sign copies of the book, “Appalachian: Schaumboch’s Tavern.”

Schaumboch’s Tavern is located in what’s now the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary.

In addition, former Schuylkill County District Attorney Claude A. “Cal” Shields will sign copies of his new book, “50 Ways To Stay out of Jail: Advice for Everyone” on April 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Schuylkill County Historical Society.
