Prothonotary report

Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of February 2021.

There were 334 cases started in February with the following breakdown: civil actions, 23; custody, 12; DJ appeal, 2; divorce, 12; mandamus action, 1; mortgage foreclosures, 3; name change, 1; protection from abuse, 16; quiet title, 1; court rules, 1; declaratory judgments, 2; STIP/WAIV/LIENS, 5; judgments, 239; miscellaneous, 3; custody modifications, 11; tax sale, 1; writs, 2.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, passports are now being processed by appointment.

Total income generated was $20,954.03; prothonotary fees, $16,343.71; custody/divorce fees, $1,542.50; data processing fees, $2,711.75; interest income, $23.07; PFA surcharge sheriff, $100; PFA surcharge courts, $125; and stenographer fees, $108.

In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $1,500, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $3,144.84; and automation fund $640 - money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.
