State Police at Fern Ridge report on incidents

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on the following incidents:

• On March 20 at 9:46 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2018 Hyundai in the 5500 block of Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, for failure to stop at a stop sign. Troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A further investigation revealed that the driver, Levonne Dallas, 49, of Wilkes-Barre, was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest for DUI.

Dallas had an active warrant for his arrest issued out of Wilkes-Barre. He was taken into custody and transported to the county prison in Snydersville on the warrant.

• Troopers said on March 15 at 9:45 p.m. they were notified that a black 2019 Honda Civic stolen back in January by a family member has still not been returned. The victim, a 46-year-old man from Bergenfield, New Jersey, now wanted to pursue charges.

Charges of theft of a vehicle and related counts have been filed against Dillon Narine, 21, of Saylorsburg. Anyone with information on the location of Narine is asked to call troopers at 570-646-2271.

• On March 19 at 10:52 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a Chevrolet Blazer along Route 115 at Chestnut Road, in Tobyhanna Township, for a traffic violation. The driver, James Fountain Jr., 48, of Blakeslee, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and taken into custody for DUI. He consented to a blood draw and was taken to the county prison for the test and later released. Charges are pending test results.

• On March 20 at 4:24 p.m. troopers responded to the area of 1541 Olympia Way in Effort, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for two dogs running loose in the area. A witness told troopers that the two dogs have been running loose in the area for several days and came onto her property several times.

The owner of the dogs was identified as Tiffany Derr, 29, of Effort. She was issued two non-traffic citations for dog law violations for failing to keep the dogs confined to her property and on a leash at all times.

• On March 19 at 8:51 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a GMC Envoy along Route 115, at the intersection with Interstate 80 west on-ramp, in Tobyhanna Township. The stop was made because the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker.

A consent search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A passenger, a 26-year-old man from East Stroudsburg, who troopers declined to identify, claimed ownership of the marijuana and paraphernalia. He was placed under arrest and charged and later released.

• Two men were charged with harassment by physical contact after police were summoned to an incident at noon March 15 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

A 34-year-old man from Mount Pocono and a 50-year-old man from Sciota were cited.

The case involved an argument that turned physical. They said both men alleged the other one grabbed their throat and they threw punches at each other.
