Man charged with alleged indecent assault of relative

A Weatherly man has been charged with the alleged indecent assault of a relative in a wheelchair who has a diminished mental capacity.

The Pennsylvania State Police were notified on Feb. 23 of inappropriate behavior by William Wilkinson, 69, at a home in the 2000 block of Hudson Drive, Packer Township.

The PSP - Hazleton Barracks has had investigations at this residence in 2018 for inappropriate sexual behavior by Wilkinson toward the nurse’s aides that were caring for the 35-year-old female victim.

On Feb. 24, the Pennsylvania State Police made a referral to the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging regarding the victim, who has cerebral palsy.

An agent from Liberty Health Adult Protective Services interviewed the victim, who said she did not feel safe at the residence.

She said Wilkinson touched her inappropriately.

Trooper John Lutchko III, PSP Criminal Investigations Unit Member, and Trooper James Quiroz traveled to the home and met with the victim and protective services.

The Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crimes Laboratory conducted a Forensic Examination of the Toshiba laptop owned by Wilkinson, and provided Quiroz with a download of the extracted data.

Police found four images of the victim lying on her bed with her pants and adult brief pulled down, and she appears distressed in the photographs.

Wilkinson faces charges of indecent assault - person with mental disability; aggravated indecent assault; and invasion of privacy.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a formal arraignment June 25 at the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.
