Brett A. Himmelreich, 38, of 107 Coal St., Tamaqua, is facing charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment for an incident at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers were dispatched to the suspect’s residence for a domestic dispute.

On scene a 63-year-old woman showed clear bruises and red marks around her neck. She told police that Himmelreich tried to strangle her. She said he held his hands around her neck for an extended period of time so she could not breathe.

Himmelreich was taken into custody and arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Pottsville, unable to post bail.
